👀 #003: How do we onboard millions of users to Web3?
MoMA selling Picasso to buy NFT, Universal Horror Night NFT Scavenger Hunt, SoundXYZ featured in Billboard, SmartCon Talk on web3 economy by former Google CEO
Guess what? There are only 91 days left in 2022… make every day count!
This week I want to start by sharing a podcast Mint | Where Crypto Meets Creators. Every week, the host invites a Web3 building to discuss the story behind building a creator economy in Web3. The founder of Koop (featured in my first weekly newsletter) was one of the guest speakers in the latest podcast season 6.
Web3 and NFT News 🖼️
🎨 MoMA is ready to build its on-chain art collections. Owned by the CBS founder William S. Paley’s Foundation and lent to the Museum of Modern Art, an artwork collection worth at least $70 million dollars is to be auctioned for the long-established museum to fund its purchase of NFTs. To many, it’s quite shocking that works by Pablo Picasso and Matisse are getting sold for “JPEGs”, but this move definitely sends signals to the traditional art museums. Tapping into NFT collections would be MoMA’s first step in gaining more digital presence in art, along with its plan of opening up virtual exhibits and launching its streaming channel. It would be interesting to how the physical and virtual art exhibits merge and evolve for people to experience art in the Web3 era.
🎃 Who’s up for an NFT scavenger hunt at Universal Studio? This year to celebrate the spooky holiday, Universal Studios partnered MoonPay, a crypto exchange and payment platform to provide an NFT scavenger hunt experience for visitors on October 31. According to the CEO of MoonPay, the goal of this event is to onboard more users to Web3 with millions of foot traffic at the Annual Signature Halloween Horror Night. In addition to how the NFT scavenger hunt is designed, I’m also curious about this experience will change participants’ thoughts on NFT.

⛓️ SmartCon by Chainlink in NYC - The best way to stay up-to-date in the Web3 world is by staying close to the engineers, founders, and pioneers in the field and discussing how they are visualizing the Web3 world in the coming years, to explore what infrastructure and environment we would need… SmartCon definitely provided an opportunity to facilitate those insightful conversations. Hear the former Google CEO Eric Schmidt’s view on the Web3 ecosystem:
🎵 Web3 Music - Trending
Sound.xyz is featured in Billboard as the go-to music NFT platform. On Wednesday night, I was able to meet the Co-Founder of Sound, David Greenstein at a web3 music curation panel hosted by Music and Water. With the launch of Sound Protocol, David is creating an easy solution for any music creator to drop music NFT at a low cost. In his view, the prevailing issue with the music industry is that “there are too many good music creators and too much good music are yet to be discovered” and his job is to make that possible through Sound.
